When Opera Software complained that Microsoft does not give its European customers much choice by bundling Internet Explorer (IE) with its Windows operating system, the European Commission decided to launch an investigation into the matter. The whole thing ended with Microsoft proposing to present Windows users in Europe that have IE set as default with a browser ballot screen. Microsoft calls it the “choice screen” and rolled it out in March 2009.

The lengthy presentation above leads to this point I am trying to make: the choice screen presents the top 12 most popular web browsers out there. You have Apple’s Safari for example, and Mozilla’s Firefox browser. And you also have a handy web browser called SlimBrowser - proof that it is popular enough for you to give it a try.

As a matter of fact, here is how the choice screen presents SlimBrowser: “Fast and reliable web browser loaded with features such as form filler, popup blocker, login management and privacy protection.”

Everything about that statement is accurate. It works just as fast as all the other browsers out there. If you have to fill online forms, it provides a form filler feature that makes things easier for you. When you browse the web in search of whatever you’re searching for, it doesn’t let popups and other annoyances distract you. The login management bit in the description above refers to the fact that SlimBrowser comes with an auto-login feature. Thanks to this feature login into your online accounts is as simple as clicking a mouse button. Last but not least, SlimBrowser tends to your privacy needs by quickly removing all the traces you leave behind while surfing the web.

There is one thing the presentation did not say about SlimBrowser: the interface is customizable. By default, the UI (user interface) can be a bit busy. If you prefer things to be a bit simpler, you can customize SlimBrowser’s interface to be a simple as you would want it to be. You can for example remove buttons and rearrange toolbars as you see fit.
